JANSEN, Cornelius Otto
(1585-1638)
   ROMAN CATHOLIC theologian and educator who opposed the JESUITS and theologians of the COUNTER REFORMATION through his educational activities and major work Augustinus (1640). His followers became known as the JANSENISTS and strongly influenced Blaise PASCAL.
