- (596-664)the greatest Chinese philosopher and PILGRIM to visit India and one of the most important figures in Chinese BUDDHISM. He translated over seventy five BUDDHIST works into Chinese and published an account of his journeys, which is regarded as a classic of Chinese literature. It was translated into English as Si-yu-ki Buddhist Records of the Western World in 1884.
