(d. 950 aged about 80)
famous Turkish philosopher who settled in Baghdad who wrote commentaries on ARISTOTLE, his "teacher." He was also influenced by NEO-PLATONISM and PLATO'S Republic. He argued that REASON was superior to FAITH and that PROPHECY was a gift which supplemented RATIONAL faculties.
