VEDIC RELIGION

VEDIC RELIGION
the religion of the ancient ARYAN invaders of India which is found in the G VEDA and other early Indian literature. It is similar to ancient Greek RELIGION being rich in MYTH and RITUAL involving GODS, SACRIFICE and heroic deeds. Life affirming and worldly and very different from later HINDUISM. Later Vedic religion tends towards MONOTHEISM and eventually develops through a series of textual reinterpretations through such works as the UPANISHADS into classical Hinduism which ignores and even reverses many earlier concerns.
