TAYLOR, James Hudson

TAYLOR, James Hudson
(1832-1905)
British PLYMOUTH BRETHREN missionary to China who adopted local dress and pioneered living with the people. Finding no MISSIONARY SOCIETY willing to back his unconventional methods, he founded the China Inland Mission in 1865 as a FAITH MISSION. His example inspired many similar missionary movements and the new ideals of PIETY based on the FAITH principle including such GROUPS as L'Abri.
