SOROKIN, Pitrim Alexandrovitch

(1889-1968)

   Russian born SOCIOLOGIST of peasant parents who became a leading critic of Marxism and the Russian REVOLUTION. His major work Social and Cultural Dynamics (1937-1941) ranks with that of TOYNBEE and SPENGLER as an attempt to provide a general interpretation of HISTORY.
