- KIERKEGAARD, Soren Asby
- (1813-1855)Danish Christian philosopher and "Father" of EXISTENTIALISM. Reared in the atmosphere of HEGELIAN DIALECTICS he opposed HEGEL's work with his own existential dialectics in works such as Either-Or (1843). His statement "SUBJECTIVITY is TRUTH" powerfully expresses his viewpoint which links truth to the existing subject not an object. His works have deeply influenced twentieth century philosophy and theology through the writings of HEIDEGGER, SARTRE, BARTH AND BULTMANN.
